Hi, I’m Dr. Timmy and welcome on pets on 5th. Today we are going to be talking about insurance for our dogs and cats. Now, I always recommend this in the young ones that come to see me and even in the older ones that come to the annual check-ups. I think that it is always a really good idea for all pets to have insurance. Now, you might be thinking to yourself: what if this hospital doesn’t take my insurance, what if only the other one that is one and a half mile away from me takes my insurance? Don’t worry, vet hospitals are not picky like human hospitals, everybody takes everybody’s insurance. We do all the paperwork for you; all you have to get us a piece of paper that sais: the carrier’s name and their information, that’s it. So it’s super easy.
What happens is that you end up paying the full entire bill and than they reimburse you. There are different levels of actually having your insurance. There is the very basic level, were you just get your annual check-ups, your annual tests and your annual vaccines covered. Than there are also different grades of diarrhea cases, broken legs, even cancer. You can even have cancer almost completely covered by your pet insurance, so that’s a really good thing. But just remember; just like with the human insurance preexisting conditions do count. So you just want to make sure you get it started early with these guys. But it is ok if you have an older dog or cat, you can still get it. Just contact your veterinarian and they can help you set it up.
